Enclosure in Creevagh (burren By.)

On the S side of a road, on slightly raised and exposed ground in rough pasture. Noted as an enclosure by Tom Coffey (SMR file, 1994). On inspection in 1999 a curving arc of an earth and stone bank was noted from E to SW (Chord c. 20m; Wth 3.2m; av. int. H 0.4-0.5m; ext. H 0.4m) in which some stones appear to be burnt and/or crushed. Continuing the arc of the bank at SW was a slight scarp, sloping to the E; this was possibly a remnant of the inner bank-face. Another possibly ancient stony bank (Wth 3.4m; H 0.25-0.5m) was noted extending S from the SSE edge of the bank. The arc of bank is visible on OSi MapGenie 2012-2018.
