Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

At the crest of a small hill overlooking Grange Lough c. 250m to the E. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 23.8m N-S; 20.5m E-W) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 5.2-5.3m; int. H 1.7-1.9m; ext. H 2.3-3.4m) which has been augmented with material dug from the interior (D c. 1m) and the external fosse which is re-cut as a drain (Wth of top 3m; Wth of base 1-1.2m; D 2m). A drain (Wth 1m; D 0.2-1m) has also been cut inside the bank. There is a modern entrance (Wth 2.6m) and causeway (Wth 4m) at SW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
