Church (in Ruins)

On the S-facing slope of a slight NW-SE ridge. Traditionally thought to be one of three churches founded by St. Patrick in the Trí Tuatha (O'Flanagan 1931, 33). This is the medieval parish church of Kiltrustan where a functioning Roman Catholic church was situated in the early 19th century (1837 OS 6-inch map). Slight remnants of a structure (int. dims 16m E-W; 6.8m N-S) defined by the W gable (T 1.05m) with a robbed window, and the N end of the E wall survive. Fragments of the N (L 12m; T 1.7m) and S walls (L 5m) survive as foundations. It is within a rectangular graveyard (RO023-078002-) (dims 70m NE-SW; 55m NW-SE) defined by masonry walls.
