Bruntisfield House is a medieval tower house on Lauderdale Street, Edinburgh, still standing beside a post-medieval icehouse, drain and wall. It later became a school, so children may have run through halls where knights once kept watch. The building has served defence, preservation and learning, which means it has spent centuries adapting instead of disappearing.
