The Battle of Bore Stone was fought between English and Scottish forces in 1513, prior to the larger and more significant Battle of Flodden. The stone marks where the English Royal Standard was planted, highlighting its role as a precursor engagement that contributed to the eventual English victory at Flodden, which had major political consequences in both England and Scotland.
