What is recorded here

Castlehill was a Roman fort on the Antonine Wall in East Dunbartonshire, built during the reign of Antoninus Pius to hold the northern frontier. The 20th 6th legion likely marched through its gates, leaving behind distance slabs now scattered across nearby farms. Today a circular plantation of beech trees marks the site, hiding the wall line beneath soil and roots while the summit still drops into a wide panorama of the valley below. What remains is less a ruin than a pressure in the land, a place where Roman authority pushed north until the green dark took it back.
