EARTHWORK

EARTHWORK, CRANNOG?: LOUGH LOHAN

What is recorded here

Yes. That is an earthwork crannog beside Lough Lohan in County Derry, recorded from the early Christian period and still marked as a scheduled ancient place. It may have been a dwelling, a refuge or a boundary marker set into the lake’s edge, where water and soil touched and people read both as one. The names and dates are not complete, but the shape of the place is clear: a small human world made visible through earth, water and time.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as EARTHWORK - CRANNOG?: LOUGH LOHAN. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. Recorded protection: Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
