Standing stone in Dunmurraghill

Standing stone

What is recorded here

Dunmurraghill in County Kildare once held a low standing stone on a slight pasture hillock, but a man removed it because he believed it was merely a scratching post. That honest mistake erased a marker older than memory, leaving behind only an empty patch of grass and a warning about how quickly human arrogance can delete ancient wonder.
On a slight pasture hillock. Described by the landowner as, 'a low standing stone' which was removed by his father who thought it was a scratching post (SMR file). The stone was not located. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 10 June 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
