One eel weir on the Camoge at Dunkip fell out of repair before the 1654 survey, yet Nicholas Bourke still claimed it through his father’s conveyance. The river may have carried silver eels past a broken wooden frame while men argued over shadows in law.

The precise location of a medieval eel weir on the Camoge River n the townland of Dunkip has not been identified. The 1654-56 Civil Survey of Limerick recorded that; 'The River of Comoge passeth through the Premisses and hath one Eele weare out of repaire now upon it. Nicholas Bourke son to the syd. James being a P[ro]testant claymeth interest to the p[re]misses by virtue of a Conveyance made to him by his father' (Simington 1938, 138).
