What is recorded here

Whitcastles is a Bronze Age stone circle in Dumfries and Galloway where nine fallen stones still mark an oval 55m by 45m across. The largest stones face north and south, joining other Solway Firth circles in pointing toward the cardinal directions. It lies 6½ miles NE of Lockerbie beside Whitcastles Cottage, now half-swallowed by tree stumps from a felled Sitka plantation.
