What is recorded here

Trecastle Mountain is a Bronze Age stone circle site near Trecastle, with two rings, a short stone row and Roman marching camps nearby. The larger circle measures about 23 metres across and still holds twenty-one low sandstone slabs, while the smaller one lies broken and shallow a short distance to the south-west. People may have walked these slopes to mark seasons, bury the dead or simply claim the plateau, but the stones no longer answer that question plainly.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Trecastle Mountain as Stone Circle(s) (bronze Age). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
