Whitcastles Hill is a possible Iron Age scooped settlement in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The land itself may have worn smooth, but the idea of shallow dishes cut into grass and soil still fits the name. A scooped settlement suggests people digging small basins for tents, storage or firelight rather than building tall stone walls. If so, the hill kept their shape longer than they kept their own.
