What is recorded here

Castle Loch is a shallow freshwater loch in Lochmaben where ruined castle walls still watch the water and pink-footed geese arrive to overwinter. It is not merely a local pond; the Ramsar Convention recognises it as a wetland of international importance. The loch belongs to both memory and migration, a place where human pride and distant birds share the same quiet surface.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Loch, Lochmaben as Logboat (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
