Castlehill

House (18th Century)

What is recorded here

Castlehill House stands beside Culloden Road in Inverness, its oldest chambers dating to the late 18th century. Tradition holds King Kenneth I granted the lands to the Cuthbert family in the 950s, yet no surviving link connects the house to that clan. The area has also hosted a care home where inspectors found serious concerns in 2025, prompting management changes and refurbishment.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlehill as House (18th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
