Castle Loch is a shallow freshwater loch in Lochmaben where the ruined Lochmaben Castle still stands at the southern end. It may have once hidden a crannog, though no exact date or builder is known. Today it is a Ramsar wetland and over-wintering place for pink-footed geese and goosanders, while the old castle watches the water like a forgotten guard.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Loch, Lochmaben as Crannog (period Unknown)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
