Auchencairn

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Auchencairn as Cairn (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Auchencairn is a Neolithic cairn, typically dating to the earlier part of the 4th to 3rd millennia BCE. Such cairns are significant as early funerary or ritual monuments, reflecting the burial practices and social organisation of Neolithic communities in Scotland.
