In Duffsfarm, County Louth, a forgotten pit-burial waited beneath ordinary ground until sewerage works exposed it. The excavator recognised the shape because a similar grave had already appeared under the same scheme, suggesting the land held more than one buried life. They stopped digging around the remains and left them untouched, granting the dead a rare mercy amid pipes and progress.

Discovered during works associated with the Termonfeckin/Baltray Sewerage Scheme (Excavation Licence No. 03E0162 / 03E0273). The remains of a possible pit-burial were uncovered but as they lay outside the pipe trench they were preserved in-situ.
