What is recorded here
Drumsinnot is a large, dome-shaped rock outcrop in County Louth, Ireland, carrying at least ten different cup and ring motifs. The stones display two four-ringed, a two-ringed and six single-ringed designs, while one four-ringed motif holds several small central cup marks. A nearby extension bears a chequered pattern and at least one single cup and ring motif. These markings turn an ordinary rock into a crowded chamber where ancient hands repeated their ideas across generations.
The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Large, dome-shaped rock outcrop, on which there are at least ten different cup and ring motifs. These consist of two four-ringed, a two-ringed and six single-ringed motifs. One of the four-ringed motifs has at its centre several small cup marks, as in the sites at Carrickrobin (LH006-033002-) and Ballinloughan Rock 4 (LH006-119----). On a nearby extension of the same outcrop is a chequered pattern which can be paralleled at High Banks, Galloway (Morris 1979,112-13), and Lordenshaws, Northumberland (Hadingham 1974, 54-9). There is also at least one single cup and ring motif on this outcrop extension. (CLAJ 1981, 110)
