Indicated

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated is a circular fairy fort in County Cavan, Ireland, holding a thirty-one-metre space inside a substantial earthen bank and narrow fosse. The eastern bank has worn away, the entrance has vanished, and dense vegetation now strangles the whole ring. It remains a quiet, overgrown marker of human occupation, waiting for someone to walk its hidden boundary and imagine the lives that shaped the soil.
Raised circular area (int. diam. 31m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a narrow fosse. Bank much denuded at E. Original entrance not recognisable. Densely overgrown with vegetation. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 22 December 2008

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
