No visible mound remains in Drumaghadone, County Down, yet the land still carries the shape of a rath. That absent circle may have held a home, a boundary or a warning, and its disappearance does not erase the reason it was built. The earth remembers the difference between empty ground and shaped ground, even when human hands have smoothed the evidence away.
