Seaforde House is a three-storey neo-classical sandstone mansion built between 1816 and 1820 for Colonel Matthew Forde after the earlier dwelling, Castlenavan, accidentally burnt down. The Forde family had occupied the Seaforde demesne since the 17th century, and the new house rose beside a large lake with a symmetrical eastern front, Doric pilasters, and a carved family coat of arms above the entrance. Peter Frederick Robinson may have designed it, having also worked on the demesne gate and lodge for Matthew Forde. The house still stands as a private country residence within the old estate lands north of the small village of Seaforde.
