Cowd Castle

Cowd Castle stands as a small squarish tower in the medieval port of Ardglass, built of split stone rubble during the 15th or 16th century. Its battered base and narrow ground-floor loops suggest a defensive purpose, while the later west door cuts through an ancient internal stair. The structure remains closed to visitors, preserving the quiet tension of a fortress that once watched the harbour before surrendering its secrets to time.
