Indicated

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated is a broken oval fort in Limerick pasture, its earth bank and scarped edge still marking a lost boundary beneath grazing feet. The missing southeast gap may have been a entrance, a collapse, or a deliberate invitation into the dark.
In pasture, on break in NE-facing slope. Oval area (44m N-S; 51.3m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 0.5m; Wth 4m) SSW->W and enclosed by earth-and-stone bank (H 0.6m), which is part of surrounding field boundary system, W->SE. No trace of enclosing element SE->SSW. Scarp is best preserved at SW. Interior, under pasture, slopes down gently to SW. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
