Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Doonard Beg,doonard More, County Roscommon, Ireland. The circular grass-covered area measures 37 metres north-south and 34.6 metres east-west, bounded by an overgrown earthen bank and outer fosse. A 1.4-metre entrance and 4.2-metre causeway mark the southeast edge, while the bank now forms part of a field boundary with Doonard More.

On a gentle E-facing slope in a low-lying landscape. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 37m N-S; 34.6m E-W) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 5.5-7m; int. H 0.5-0.9m; ext. H 1.5m at W to 2.1m at S), and an outer fosse (Wth of top 5.7-6.5m; Wth of base 2-3m; D 0.4m at N to 1.6m at S) which is partly back-filled E-SSE and SSW-WSW. The entrance (Wth 1.4m), possibly stone-lined, and causeway (Wth 4.2m) are at SE. The bank is incorporated into a field bank and townland boundary with Doonard More SE-SW, and there is a modern entrance (Wth 2m) at SW. Archaeological testing (02E0766) c. 50-100m to the SW failed to produce any related material (Read 2004c). The possible ringfort (RO023-112----) is c. 65m to the NNW and rath (RO023-114----) is c. 200m to the SW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
