Fairy forts are a human creation, not a magical one. They are ordinary ringforts, circular earthworks built by people, and the fairy name is a later story laid over forgotten human life. In Doon, one such rath has slipped from precise knowledge, remembered only as a possible earthwork in a wide townland rather than a marked place. That loss is not a defect; it is the shape of local memory, where a boundary becomes a rumour and a rumour becomes a fairy tale.

Walsh (1972, 21) includes two raths (see KE091-090----), located in Doon townland, on a list of 'Earthwork and settlement sites' in Co. Kerry. This possible rath has not been precisely located and it is possible that it is in that part of the townland on OS 6-inch map 100.
