What is recorded here

Rotten Island is a granite islet in Killybegs Harbour where three men drowned in 1836 while returning from work on the rock. The tragedy helped convince authorities to build the lighthouse that first flashed in 1838, turning a deadly seam of water into a managed entrance. Its white tower still marks the harbour, but the name preserves the older lesson that the sea does not forget the places where it has taken people.
Rotten Island is recorded as a islet in County Donegal. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
