Inch Castle stands ruined on the southern tip of Inch Island in County Donegal, built around 1430 by Neachtain O'Donnell for his father-in-law Cahir O'Doherty. The fortress joined a defensive network meant to protect the O'Doherty clan and overawe those who accepted their rule, while Burt Castle watched from across Lough Swilly. Stone walls still rise beside the water, preserving the moment when alliance and ambition shaped the northern coast.
