Structure

On the eastern side of Derryvella bog, this structure (Wth 0.38m; D 0.08m; L 1.45m) was visible on the field surface. It was composed of a single fragmentary oak plank (Wth 0.3m; D 0.08m; L 1.45m) with several light brushwood elements (average diam. 0.03m; average L 0.08m) to the immediate E. There were also the remnants of a peg protruding from the field surface, 0.13m to the W of the plank. The structure was orientated NE-SW and was in a poor state of preservation. Nothing remains of this sighting, as the element was sampled. The underlying peat was composed of poorly humified sphagnum peat with occasional calluna and eriophorum inclusions.
