Platform, peatland

What is recorded here

Originally recorded as a togher but excavation in 2002 revealed that this was a platform (exposed L 5.5m; Wth 5m) composed mainly of roundwood with brushwood also present. The elements were mostly aligned N-S but were quite dispersed and unevenly laid. Woodworking was evident throughout. A date range of 320-200 BC was obtained (Whitaker 2009, 68). (Whitaker 2004g, 351-1) Compiled by: Mary Tunney based on data supplied by Jane Whitaker, Archaeological Development Services. Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
