Bodelwyddan Castle stands in Denbighshire, Wales, where the Williams family transformed a Greek Revival mansion into a castellated fantasy between 1830 and 1842. Edward Welch and Joseph Hansom added turrets and battlements before bankruptcy forced them to abandon the project, yet local agents completed the strange structure. The building still wears that interrupted ambition, its stone pretending to be a medieval fortress while hiding a modern house inside.
