Fairy forts are not fairy forts at all. They are human ringforts, misnamed because people stopped remembering the hands that built them. Curraghnaloughra is one of those forgotten human places, a circular earthwork on a Cork hillside that became fairyland only after human memory faded. The distinction matters because it returns the dead to the story instead of pushing them out of it.

In pasture, atop hill. Circular area (32.2m N-S; 39.4m NE-SW) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1m, ext. H 2.2m), with external fosse (D 0.4m). Gap (Wth 2.4m) to SE.
