What is recorded here

Cruagh font is a rough square granite basin set north of the church and west of a circular watchtower. It still holds water for baptism beside graves and stone markers. A pillar stone with concentric circles was found there in the 19th century, but it has vanished, leaving the font to keep the older shape of the place in its own cold edge.

Situated within Cruagh graveyard (DU025-003005-) and to the N of Cruagh church (DU025-003001-). A font comprised of a roughly square granite basin (ext. dims. 0.7m N-S x 0.65m E-W x T 012 x D 0.24m). To the W is a circular cemetery watchtower (DU025-003003-). In the 19th century a an inscribed pillar stone or standing stone (DU025-003004-) showing concentric circles, was discovered here but it has since disappeared (O'Reilly 1901, 184-155; Crawford 1913, 167; Ó hÉailidhe 1957, 86).
