PLATFORM RATH in Crott

PLATFORM RATH

What is recorded here

Morgan Rath spans twelve acres of black soil and stubborn memory. It is the largest platform rath in Britain, a vast wooden stage where people may have gathered to argue, trade or worship before the stones vanished. Much of the chamber is lost, but the scale remains undeniable.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
