Cross-slab in Inishshark

In the SW quadrant of the burial ground (GA009D008----) located on a headland in the SE end of Inishshark. This possible cross-slab acts as the headstone of a grave; it has some shouldering and bears very faint incised cross (Kuijt and Lash 2017, 5, Fig. 10). It may be of medieval date. Probably dating to the early Christian period (5th–10th centuries AD), this cross-slab likely served as a Christian grave marker, reflecting the introduction of Christianity to the island. Its placement within a burial ground suggests a connection to local funerary traditions and possibly early monastic activity in the area.
