Enclosure in Cromwell — Report the wrong picture

Cromwell’s Enclosure hides in wet Limerick grassland, its curvilinear ditch visible only from above near the fort named for Cromwell. Humans may have lived beside that water-heavy ground, though no written account survives to confirm it. The earth kept the shape while memory faded, waiting for aerial photography to reveal what boots and maps missed.

In wet poorly drained grassland. Ringfort (LI033-055----) annotated 'Cromwell's Fort' lies 450m to SW. Enclosure (LI033-173---) immediately to SW. Not depicted on OSi historic maps. Identified by Bruff aerial photographic survey in 1986 (Bruff 118; AP 5/2024) as an enclosure. Curvilinear ditch visible on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-12 and on Google Earth orthoimages.
