Crannog in Lough Gara

In Lough Gara, c. 300m from the present shoreline, surrounded by drumlins. The vegetation consists of one shrub and some grass and nettles. A low-cairn crannog (11.3m N-S; 13.5m E-W; H 1.2m above the muddy lake-bed; H c. 0.4m above the water), the surface of which consists of small shattered stones, some round stones and a scatter of subangular stones forming a reasonably even surface. Some larger stones (diam. c. 0.3-0.4m) lie submerged to the E and W of the crannog. The N edge slopes down quite sharply. A small jetty (3m N-S; 9m E-W) projects to W.
