What is recorded here

Indicated is a stone ringfort on a subcircular island in Coorhoor Lough, County Galway, reached by a causeway running SSE toward the shore. Its wide platform and outer facing remain best at the east and west, while the earth interior rises slightly toward the centre. The site may have been a dwelling, a refuge or a marker of ownership, but its exact use has faded with the people who built it.

In Coorhoor Lough c. 30m N of a promontory. Subcircular island (E-W 18m; N-S 17m) defined by a wide stone platform. This is revetted by an outer stone facing, best preserved at E and W. The interior, composed of earth, rises slightly towards the centre. A stone causeway runs SSE from the island, probably to the lake shore. Traces of possible landing places are visible at N and SSW.
