Round called Castle Goff

Castle Goff is a Norman motte-and-bailey castle in Cornwall, built after the conquest of 1066 to project control across newly taken land. Its earthwork mound and bailey still mark the logic of eleventh-century defence, even though no timber hall or stone tower remains visible. The site sits on Upper Devonian Rocks, old enough to have watched empires rise and fall before humans learned to build roads. What is missing is not emptiness; it is the part that rotted, burned or was never meant to last.
