Wallingstown Castle

Wallingstown Castle is a ruined three-story tower in a Cork field that the Fitzgeralds owned during the 16th century before passing through the Pigot, Lisle and Bury families. Nobody recorded who built it or why it became a castle, so the missing origin still breathes through its broken walls. It stands beside a medieval church ruin, surrounded now by an industrial estate instead of farmland, making the sudden jump from medieval mystery to modern routine feel like a small loss of wonder.
