Patrick Burns died in Ballincollig Barracks on 21st August 1922 after receiving a wound, ending a life that began in The Powedermills on 17th March 1879. He served as an engineer with Cork No. 2 Brigade, and the memorial preserves his name in proud memory rather than inventing grandeur.
