What is recorded here

Gallán stood thirty-six inches tall on a north-facing Cork slope, marking pasture boundaries until men dragged it into a field fence near 1975. Hartnett called it a possible cow-stone, suggesting people once tied animals beside it or measured growth against its surface. The stone lies broken in grass now, but it resisted forgetting longer than most markers in Mid Cork.

Not shown on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps. In pasture, near top of N-facing slope. Removed c. 1975; now lying in field fence to E (CO083-155----).
