Bryn Mawr is a sea cliff composed primarily of Silurian greywacke and slate, formed around 440 to 420 million years ago through deep marine sedimentation and subsequent tectonic compression. It is notable for its exposure of ancient volcanic and sedimentary rocks that are part of the Caledonian mountain-building event.
