STANDING STONE? in Comber; Mount Alexander

In 1931, old gardener Tom Campbell moved stones from a Castle Street garden into the walled garden at Aureen, Comber, cementing them into a monument that featured a carved monk's head and bore the names of three Milling children. He built the structure without archaeological guidance, simply to keep the pieces together and display the spectacular carvings prominently beneath three beech trees. For the next seventy years, the arrangement stood as a family landmark, used by children as a climbing frame and treated as a living ornament rather than a buried relic.
