Fulacht fia in Coan West

Fulacht fia is a crescent-shaped mound of black earth and fire-cracked stones beside a spring well in Coan West, one of two similar mounds set thirty metres apart above the Dinin river valley. The sunken centre and cracked stones suggest repeated heating and pouring of water, perhaps for cooking, cleaning or ritual, though no vessel or hearth remains visible. People may have gathered at the well in wet seasons, drawing water into the mound and watching steam rise across the grassland. The mound still holds the shape of that effort, preserving a place where heat, water and human patience met repeatedly.
