Gortnabishaun Abbey (in ruins) — Report the wrong picture

Gortnabishaun Abbey stands as a faint rectangular platform inside an early ecclesiastical enclosure, reduced to a low wall trace at one corner and a scattered chunk of mortared limestone twenty-five metres away. The building once rose with a roof and clear walls, but time and perhaps human reuse have sanded its edges until only the ground remembers its shape. What remains is not a ruin in the dramatic sense but a suggestion, a shadow of a room where prayer or domestic life may have continued long after the first stones were laid.

Just S of the centre of an early ecclesiastical enclosure (GA028-012004-). Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a small roofed rectangular building, aligned N-S. All that survives is a faint rectangular platform (N-S; L 11.3m, Wth 5.4m) clearly defined only at NE corner where traces of a wall foundation (H 0.6m) are visible; elsewhere a scarp and/or small cairns of earth and stone mark its limits. No architectural features are visible. A large chunk of crudely coursed mortared limestone masonry lying 25m to E may have come from this building. A CBG (GA028-012003-) lies immediately to SE.
