What is recorded here

Gallán is a subrectangular standing stone in County Cork, Ireland, rising 1.12m on a south-facing pasture slope. It aligns northeast to southwest and resisted capture on both the 1842 and 1904 Ordnance Survey maps. That absence suggests the stone belonged to memory rather than measurement, marking a boundary, a burial or a promise no cartographer thought worth recording. Its sharp edges and stubborn visibility still contradict the blankness of those charts.
