What is recorded here

Indicated is a crannog in Clonamullig Lough, County Cavan, where horizontal cross beams still line the island shore. Iron slag, unburnt bones and part of a rotary quern lie scattered nearby, suggesting people worked, ate and lived there before the lake swallowed the evidence. The water kept the shape but took the dates, leaving behind a room without a timeline.

Irregular-shaped island (dims. c. 50m E-W; c. 35m N-S) in Clonamullig Lough, c. 100m from the shoreline. Davies (NMI Survey 1942) recorded that on the shore of the island, horizontal cross beams were identified at many locations. Other finds from the shoreline include some iron slag, many unburnt bones and part of a rotary quern, but none datable.
