What is recorded here

Grave Yard occupies gently sloping land between Slievagh mountain and the Ferta river in County Kerry, Ireland. Its modern rectangular shape has buried older markers, including a possible leacht noted in the early 1840s. In the 1940s, diggers uncovered a handled wooden vessel from Medieval times, hinting that death and memory had long claimed this ground.

A large rectangular graveyard (KE079-026002-) situated on gently sloping land between Slievagh mountain and the Ferta river at S. The extent of the modern graveyard appears to have obliterated any other early features which may have existed on this site, including a possible leacht recorded here in the early 1840s (OSL). A handled wooden vessel of Medieval date was discovered buried in the graveyard in the 1940s (NMI 1945:182). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
