Terraced three-bay two-storey house, extant 1838[?]. Reroofed. In alternative use, 2010. For sale, 2013. Replacement pitched artificial slate roof with clay ridge tiles terminating in rendered chimney stack having stepped capping supporting terracotta or yellow terracotta octagonal or tapered pots, and uPVC rainwater goods on timber eaves board on rendered eaves retaining cast-iron octagonal or ogee hopper and downpipe. Rusticated rendered wall (ground floor); rendered surface finish (first floor). Square-headed central door opening with moulded rendered surround framing replacement timber panelled door. Square-headed window openings with concrete sills (ground floor) or concrete sill course (first floor), and moulded rendered surrounds framing one-over-one timber sash windows having exposed sash boxes. Street fronted with concrete footpath to front.
A house representing an integral component of the domestic built heritage of Claremorris with the architectural value of the composition suggested by such traits as the compact rectilinear plan form; and the slight diminishing in scale of the openings on each floor producing a graduated visual impression with those openings showing sleek "stucco" refinements. Having been well maintained, the elementary form and massing survive intact together with substantial quantities of the historic or original fabric, thereby upholding the character or integrity of a house making a pleasing visual statement in James Street.
