Poll Cragreagh

Poll Cragreagh is a steep, winding cave beneath Slieve Elva where a clear stream drops twelve feet into shadow and runs one mile and four hundred yards south before reappearing at Killeany. Cavers from Burnley entered the choked passage in 1954 and marveled at pools crowded with tiny cave pearls, while earlier explorers had been stopped by collapsed clay and stone. The grey crag still swallows water and returns it changed, keeping the distance and darkness as a living fact rather than a forgotten one.
